Who 1: But the Grinch, who lived just north of Who-ville, Did NOT!

(Grinch stands at his mountain
looking down)
Narrator 1: The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season! Now, please don't ask why. No one knows the reason.
Who 1: It could be his head wasn't screwed on just right. It could be that his shoes were too tight.
Who 2: But I think that the most likely reason of all may have been that his heart was two sizes too small.
Narrator 1: But, whatever the reason, His heart or his shoes, He stood there on Christmas Eve, hating the Whos.
Narrator 1: The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season! Now, please don't ask why. No one knows the reason.

Grinch: And they're hanging their stockings! These awful presents and sings that I hear. Tomorrow is Christmas! It's practically here!
Narrator 2: All the Who girls and boys rush for their toys! And then! Oh, the noise!
Grinch: NOISE! NOISE! NOISE!
Narrator 2: Then the Whos, young and old, would sit down to a feast. And they'd feast!
Gtinch: FEAST! FEAST! FEAST!
Who 2: They would feast on Who-pudding, and Who-roast beast, Which was something the Grinch couldn't stand in the least! And THEN They'd do something He liked least of all!
Who 1: Every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small, Would stand close together, with Christmas bells ringing. They'd stand hand-in-hand. And the Whos would start singing!
Grinch: And they'd SING! SING! SING!
(Whos sing the song “Where are you
Christmas?”)
Grinch: I must stop this whole thing! I must put up with it now! I MUST stop this Christmas from coming! ...But HOW?
Grinch: I must stop this whole thing! I must put up with it now! I MUST stop this Christmas from coming! ...But HOW?
ALL: THE GRINCH GOT A WONDERFUL, AWFUL
IDEA!
Grinch: I know just what to do! With this coat and this hat, I look just like Saint Nick! All I need is a reindeer..

(Grinch dresses up)
Who 3: The Grinch looked around. But there was none to be found. Did that stop the old Grinch...?
Grinch: No!
Who 3: The Grinch simply said
Grinch: If I can't find a reindeer, I'll make one instead!
Who 3: So he called his dog, Max.
Grinch: Max! Max! Max!
Narrator 1: Then he took some red thread. And he tied a big horn on the top of his head. THEN He loaded some bags
(Grinch tied the horn on
the Max’s head)
Narrator 2: And some
old empty sacks on a ramshackle sleigh.
And he hitched up old Max. Then the Grinch said
Grinch: Giddap!
Grinch: Giddap!
3 Song “Sleigh Ride”
(Grinch and Max go away)
Narrator 2: And the sleigh started down toward the homes where the Whos lay a-snooze in their town. All their windows were dark. Quiet snow filled the air.
4 Song “Snowflake”
(Song “Snowflake”, snowflakes dance)
Narrator 3: All the Whos were all
dreaming sweet dreams without care. When he came to the
first little house on the square.
(Grinch and Max come to
the fireplace)
Grinch: This is stop number one
Narrator 4: The old Grinchy Claus hissed. And he climbed to the roof, empty bags in his fist. Then he slid down the chimney. A rather tight pinch. But, if Santa could do it then so could the Grinch
Narrator 5. He got stuck only once, for a moment or two. Then he stuck his head out of the fireplace flue where the little Who stockings all hung in a row.
Grinch: These stockings
Narrator 5: he grinned
Grinch: are the first things to go!
Narrator 4: Then he slithered and slunk, with a smile most unpleasant, Around the whole room, and he took every present!
Grinch: This is stop number one

Narrator 1: Pop guns!
Narrator 2: And bicycles!
Narrator 3: Roller skates!
Narrator 4: Drums!
Narrator 1: Tricycles!
Narrator 2: Popcorn!
Narrator 3: And plums!
Narrator 4: And he stuffed them in bags. Then he stuffed all the food up the chimney with glee.
(Grinch takes every present)
Grinch: And NOW!
Narrator 3: grinned the Grinch
Grinch: I will stuff up the tree!
(Grinch grab the tree)

Mr Grinch”
Who 1: And the Grinch grabbed
the tree, and he started to shove. When he heard a small sound like the coo of
a dove.
Who 2: He turned around fast, and he saw a small Who! Little Cindy-Lou Who who was not more than two.
(Cindy-Lou comes to the
Grinch)
Who 3: The Grinch had been caught by this tiny Who daughter who'd got out of bed for a cup of cold water.
Cindy-Lou Who: Santy Claus, what are you doing with our Christmas tree?
Who 3: But, you know, that old Grinch was so smart and so slick. He thought up a lie, he thought it up quick!
Grinch: Why, my sweet little tot. There's no light on the tree. I'll fix it up at my home. Then I'll bring it back here.
Who 4: Then he patted her head and he got her a drink and he sent her to bed.
And when Cindy-Lou Who went to bed with her cup, HE went to the chimney and stuffed the tree up!
(Cindy goes away)
Who 5: Then the last thing he took was the log for their fire! Then he went up the chimney, himself, the old liar.
Who 6: Then He did the same thing to the other Whos' houses.
Leaving crumbs much too small For the poor Whos' mouses!
Who 7: It was quarter past dawn...All the Whos, still a-bed, All the Whos, still a-snooze
When he packed up his sled. Packed it up with their presents!
Who 5: Then the last thing he took was the log for their fire! Then he went up the chimney, himself, the old liar.

Grinch: They're finding out now that no Christmas is coming! They're just waking up! I know just what they'll do! Their mouths will hang open a minute or two then the Whos down in Who-ville will all cry.
ALL: Boo-Hoo!
(everyone cries)

Who7: Mr Mayor, what’s happened?
Mayor: I’ve told you –
the Grinch!
ALL: Grinch?
Mayor: Grinch ruined the
Christmas! What should I do? Everything’s gone…
Cindy’s Father: Mr Mayor, but Christmas
is not only gifts, lights, food and so on…
Whatever you like it or not, anyway my family is ALL what I want for
Christmas day! Merry Christmas to everyone! Merry Christmas!
(Whos singing the song)
Who 7: Grinch stared down at Who-ville! The Grinch popped his eyes! Then he shook!
What he saw was a shocking surprise!
Who 8: Every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small, was singing! Without any presents at all! He HADN'T stopped Christmas from coming! It came!
Narrator 1: Somehow or other, it came just the same!
Who 7: Grinch stared down at Who-ville! The Grinch popped his eyes! Then he shook!
What he saw was a shocking surprise!
Who 8: Every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small, was singing! Without any presents at all! He HADN'T stopped Christmas from coming! It came!
Narrator 1: Somehow or other, it came just the same!

Grinch: How could it be so? It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags!
Who 3: And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
Grinch: Maybe Christmas
Who 3: he thought
Grinch: doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas...means a little bit more!
Narrator 1: And what happened then...?
Narrator 2: Well...in Who-ville they say that the Grinch's small heart Grew three sizes that day!
Narrator 3: And he brought back the toys! And the food for the feast! And he...
Who 3: HE HIMSELF...!
Narrator 3: The Grinch carved the roast beast!
Grinch: Merry Christmas!
ALL: Merry Christmas!
